So I am stressed about my final project I decided to do something around the overall theme spring and go from there. After discussing it with Sonia I decided that I would take a cue from Duane Michaels. He takes pictures and creates stories to go along with them that convey so much meaning. So I have decided to create almost like a book of my pictures with different pictures that yes are from spring time but also tell kind of the story of my life right now. I am going to do that by photographing my friends along with other pictures that have some significance to me and write mini stories underneath them. Each page will be about a different part of my life (basically a friend) and I will use pictures of flowers and typical springtime pictures as background decorative things for the book. Hopefully this works out good, if anyone has any other suggestions I would really appreciate it

I looked through a bunch of black and white photograph books and I came across one entitled "Eyes of Memory" by Herbert and Leni Sonnenfeld. The entire book was moving because it created almost a reinactment of everything the Jewish community has survived throughout history especially during the Hollicost. One photograph in particular that caught my eye immediately was called "Dreaming of the Future" Wahn See, Berlin 1933. What may first strike you as a typical picture (five young boys fishing on the docks), turns out to be really beautiful. The way the photographer captured the geniunely content faces of the young boys and the details of the boys and the decaying dock was awesome. Plus, the way the water reflected and played with the lighting was so cool to look at it seemed as if you were watching it in high-def. The contrast on the photo was perfect to the extent that you could distinguish each piece of sea grass from one another. I also loved the way the picture was taken so that it was perfectly detailed and faded off as the pictures items became smaller and the horizon hit the water. There is a small boat in the background that is completely fuzzy yet somehow the grass infront of it is perfectly clear. It was impressive. Unfortunately I couldn't find a picture of it on the web to post but the book is in the library if you wanted to take a look

Week 1 January 22
The reason I am taking this course is because I took a photography class in high school and I loved it. I have never been particularly artistic and I can barely draw a stick figure but with photography I was able to be creative in a way I didn't think I could. My personal goal is to become even more creative in my photos and I can't think of any expectations I have except that I am assuming this class with be challenging but worth it.
